PARTAL

About
Partal wood is a locally recognized softwood found in regions of Pakistan and Afghanistan. It is generally lightweight and has a pale, yellowish-white appearance with a relatively straight and even grain. Because of its low density and soft texture, Partal is easy to work with using basic tools, making it a favored choice for low-budget construction and carpentry. It is commonly used in temporary furniture, crates, internal paneling, and simple wooden frameworks. While it lacks the strength and longevity of hardwoods, its low cost and ease of availability make it ideal for non-structural uses where strength is not a critical factor.
Our Client’s Challenge
Due to its softness, it’s not well-suited for heavy-duty applications or areas prone to moisture unless treated. It can absorb finishes but is usually used in natural or painted form in local markets. In rural areas, Partal is often used in the construction of storage boxes, cupboards, and even for basic roof trusses. Despite being a humble wood in comparison to premium imported varieties, Partal plays a significant role in the local economy, especially in interior construction. It’s often used alongside other regional softwoods like Kail and Deodar for affordable home and commercial projects.
